13の階を縦に積み、階ごとに異なる描画方法・色・解像度・速さで描く。上から3番目の階のセルオートマトンは、開いて約5秒後に床板を破り、黒・白・灰の前線になって上下の階へ進む。前線は屋上か最下階に着くまで止まらず、前線が通った部分は14〜22秒でその階の元の描画に戻る。
Section of Floors
Thirteen floors are stacked, each drawn using a different method, colour, resolution and speed. About 5 seconds after the page opens, the cellular automaton on the third floor from the top breaks through a plate and moves into the floors above and below as a black, white and grey front. A front does not stop until it reaches the roof or the lowest floor, and the areas it passes through return to each floor’s original drawing after 14–22 seconds.

キャンバスの1画素は、画面上の0.5〜5 CSS pxに相当する。セルオートマトンの各セルは3状態のいずれかを取り、周囲8セルのうち3つ以上が次の状態にあれば、その状態へ進む。前線が通った階では、その階の画素の明るさから各セルの初期状態を決める。前線は毎秒11〜14px程度で進み、次の穴は12〜20秒おきに開き、7割は下へ進む。階の順序と初期状態は開くたびに変わる。
One canvas pixel covers 0.5–5 CSS pixels. The automaton has 3 states and 8 neighbours; a cell advances when at least 3 neighbours hold its next state. On each floor the front reaches, the floor’s pixel brightness sets the starting states. Fronts move at about 11–14 px per second; a new hole opens every 12–20 seconds, and seven in ten fronts move downwards. The order of the floors and their starting states change on each visit.
